As the NFL playoffs start this weekend, the “Girls & Sports” cartoonists are ready … with “football condolence cards.”

The cards are for those people who want to cheer up — or talk trash to — friends grieving after their team gets defeated.

One card contains a cover message saying: “Sending you heartfelt sympathy for your tragic loss.” Inside, a devastated fan is pictured lying on a sofa as a TV announcer blares: “The pass is incomplete and that’ll do it!! Game over!!” — followed by the message: “And remember, there’s always next season!”

There are also condolence cards for other sports, including basketball and baseball.

Justin Borus and Andrew Feinstein (profiled in E&P, February 2006) do the “Girls & Sports” comic for Creators Syndicate.
