THE AAA OF Michigan is helping journalism students jump-start their academic careers.
The AAA presented a $25,000 endowed scholarship to Michigan State University’s School of Journalism. The Len Barnes-AAA Michigan Fund Award recognizes Barnes, a 1943 graduate of the MSU School of Journalism and editor emeritus of the AAA Magazine Michigan Living.
Karlyn Duncan, of Sturbridge, Mass., was the first recipient. The scholarship will be awarded each year to an upper class or graduate journalism student interested in recreational and environmental reporting.
