After Ads, CareerMosaic’s Visitors More Than Double

CareerMosaic, a Web recruitment site, partially credits newspaper advertisements for its astounding jump in traffic this year. The New York-based site recently jumped from No. 5 among career sites to No. 2 (excluding America Online’s Workplace Channel).

CareerMosaic had 538,000 unique visitors in December, according to Media Metrix, but in January, the site had 1,451,000 visitors.

Company officials credit the jump to increased advertising efforts, both online and off, that began in January. For print, a series of branding full-page, page-dominant, and quarter-page ads appeared in: The New York Times , The Washington Post , Chicago Tribune , San Francisco Chronicle , and Los Angeles Times . The print ads will continue throughout the year. TV spots are scheduled to appear in key markets beginning in March.

CareerPath.com, the career site owned by several large newspaper companies, saw its traffic and ranking drop from 1,238,000 visitors in December (No. 3) to 1,087,000 in January (No. 4).
