(Adweek.com) CareerBuilder has placed its estimated $14-$20 million advertising account in review, the company said. The Reston, Va.-based online job and recruitment service hired consultant Hasan Ramusevic of Hasan & Co. in Raleigh, N.C., to create a list of small and mid-sized agencies with retail and franchise experience for consideration. Requests for proposal were issued to 15 undisclosed agencies and are due back April 15.
The decision to hire a new agency stems in part from the company’s acquisition by Knight Ridder and the Tribune Co. last year. The newspaper publishers have since re-labled their help wanted classified sections “CareerBuilder.”
Kate Dawnson, director of marketing and advertising for the client also cited management changes within the company as reasons for the agency search. These include the hiring of former Headhunter.com CEO Bob Montgomery, Chief Marketing Officer Judy Hackett, Chief Sales Officer Mary Delany, and technology officer Eric Presley. CareerBuilder recently completed its purchase of Headhunter.
Dawson expects a decision to be made by May 16 to dovetail with her company’s move to Chicago in mid-summer.
The Martin Agency, in Richmond, Va., which won the account in 1999, was invited to participate but declined.
