Newspaper carrier Dodie Carmichael put her nurse’s aide training to work when she helped save a man hit by a falling tree in Boonville, Mo.
In the course of clearing a view of the Missouri River last month, Dan Brewer was struck by a tree he’d cut. He awoke in a hospital remembering nothing after seeing the tree fall.
Carmichael found Brewer, stanched his bleeding and kept him conscious, according to a report by Eric Berger in the Sept. 1 Boonville Daily News.
With 70 stitches in his face and a broken arm, nose, and vertebra, Brewer — a construction worker, who’d never before been in an accident — will be out of work for six weeks.
