New Britain, Conn., officials are investigating a fire that forced eight people from a house and left two firefighters with minor injuries, according to The Hartford Courant.

Seeing flames behind a three-family house at about 3:30 Tuesday morning, two newspaper carriers reported the fire. Residents told The Herald, in New Britain, that they were awakened after the carriers honked their car horn, yelled and banged on the door to the house, said Executive Editor Jim Smith.

Thirty firefighters brought the blaze under control within an hour, but extensive damage left the building uninhabitable.
