Two Web cartoonists have joined Blank Label Comics, which started this spring with a half-dozen artists.
One of the two is “Sheldon” creator Dave Kellett, whose daily comic stars a 10-year-old software billionaire and his pet duck. The strip has been online since 1999, and can be seen on United Media’s Comics.com. Kellett holds master degrees in art and the history of cartooning.
The other is “Real Life” creator Greg Dean, whose autobiographical (but occasionally fictional) comic also went online in 1999. Four years later, he began publishing “Real Life” on the Web independently, and later published a collection of his comic.
Blank Label (E&P Online, May 31) is a co-op of independent creators who help each other with things like cross-promotion and advertising.
