Editorial cartoonist Kevin “Kal” Kallaugher will be in Baku, Azerbaijan, the week of June 16 as part of a cultural visit organized by the U.S. Embassy.

During his time there, Kal will open an exhibit of his cartoons and speak to various groups — including artists, journalists, and diplomats.

In other news, Kal on June 26 will again team up with the Second City troupe for a performance at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Arts Center. “The Art of Satire” stage show — sponsored by The Economist magazine, for which Kal does cartoons — will feature topical sketches, audience participation, and the unveiling of Kal’s 3-D animated John McCain.

Next month, Kal is visiting Guiyang, China, to be a member of an international panel of judges for the Asian Youth Animation and Cartoon Contest.

Kal’s Economist cartoons are distributed by the New York Times Syndicate-marketed CartoonArts International.
