Cartoonist Rogers Builds Convention Page

By: Dave Astor

Editorial cartoonist Ron Rogers put together an intricate page of information and illustrations for Indiana’s South Bend Tribune about the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

The July 25 feature included caricatures of John Kerry, John Edwards, and other convention speakers; biographical data on Kerry and Edwards; a listing of issues; information about Boston; a convention schedule; and more.

Rogers — one of a very small group of African-American editorial cartoonists — began doing cartoons for the Tribune in 2002. He won two statewide awards the following year.
