Cartoonist Takes Buyout From ‘Sun’

Mike Lane, editorial cartoonist at The Sun in Baltimore, is taking a buyout effective July 30.

This wasn’t the first time Lane received a buyout offer. “I’ve been targeted four times in six years,” said Lane, who has been with The Sun and the now-defunct Evening Sun for more than three decades. Lane shared editorial cartooning duties with Kevin “KAL” Kallaugher, who remains at The Sun.

Lane told E&P that his future plans include continuing to draw four editorial cartoons a week for the Cagle Cartoons syndicate.

When asked if he wanted to comment about The Sun or its Tribune Co. ownership, Lane declined.
