‘Cartoonists Day’ Is Coming May 5
By: E&P Staff
The National Columnists Day being celebrated today is not the only “holiday” honoring contributors to newspapers. May 5 is Cartoonists Day.
Various schools, libraries, museums, and bookstores have events or exhibits planned.
May 5 is designated as Cartoonists Day because the first modern newspaper comic, starring Richard Outcault’s “Yellow Kid” character, made its debut on May 5, 1895.
