Cartoonists Get Married, and Another Cartoonist Officiates

By: E&P Staff

Two cartoonists were married in a ceremony presided over by a third cartoonist, announced EditorialCartoonists.com today.

The newlyweds are Mikhaela Reid, who has done cartoons for the Boston Phoenix, the Los Angeles Times, and various other publications; and Masheka Wood, whose work includes the “Not Just Knee Deep” comic.

Conducting the ceremony was Universal Press Syndicate editorial cartoonist Ted Rall. Massachusetts law allows a close friend or family member to legally perform marriages under a special one-day designation.

The last time something like this happened was in 2001, when Cindy Procious — then an editorial cartoonist for the Huntsville (Ala.) Times — married editorial cartoonist Clay Bennett of The Christian Science Monitor and Christian Science Monitor News Service. Presiding over that ceremony was Dennis Draughon, then an editorial cartoonist for The Scranton (Pa.) Times.
