Cartoons Sought to Benefit Animal Sanctuary in Upstate New York

“Bizarro” cartoonist Dan Piraro is asking his fellow creators for original cartoons that can be auctioned to raise money for the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in Willow, N.Y.

“Last time we held an art auction, in 2004, it made more money than any of our other fundraising events and the cartoon art sold the most quickly,” said Piraro, whose comic is syndicated by King Features.

He added that the auction-sale proceeds will go toward “procuring and caring for rescued animals and educating the public about the health and environmental hazards of our current factory farming system, as well as animal-cruelty issues in general.”
