CCI Europe, headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, and Kennesaw, Ga., will expand its NewsGate editorial system with a pagination module, enabling it to function as a complete, integrated editorial and pagination solution using either CCI LayoutChamp or Adobe InDesign and InCopy.
The company said it would have further information at the IfraExpo, in Leipzig, in October (where it also will demonstrate CCI AdDesk’s new accounts receivable module and cross-selling into different media with AdDesk Sales).
Page layout and design in NewsGate can be performed with LayoutChamp, or InDesign/InCopy, or both. NewsGate can be purchased as a complete editorial system, as a front-end to an existing CCI NewsDesk system, or as a stand-alone content-management system without pagination for online, news agency, and other digital news publishing. Generally, NewsGate always has been based on the “content cycle” rather than the “page-production cycle” model. By extending it to include pagination, however, the system allows publishers to focus on both.
In deciding to fully integrate InDesign and InCopy for both NewsGate and NewsDesk, CCI sought to ensure that the Adobe software blends with CCI’s editorial solution to increase the effectiveness of InDesign and allow copy editing in InCopy while ensuring H&J consistency.
CCI said it would continue to expand the combination of its LayoutChamp page-design tool with MS Word. Created specifically for newspaper production, LayoutChamp offers full database integration.
