Danish publishing systems developer CCI, which has offices in Marietta, Ga., and Dutch publishing systems developer Woodwing Software, with offices in Detroit, reached an original equipment manufacturing agreement whereby CCI will offer WoodWing’s iPad Reader app as part of its solutions.
WoodWing’s app enables publishing on the iPad with the flexibility to blend content, design and interactivity, along with support for payment models through Apple´s AppStore.
The integration “gives our customers fast access to the iPad platform allowing them to leverage and explore its possibilities,” CCI Solution Strategist Ulrik Cramer said in announcing the agreement.
Content for the iPad is created within CCI NewsGate or CCI NewsDesk much as would be for other publishing channels. Either Adobe InDesign or CCI LayoutChamp can be applied, in combination with CCI’s template-driven automated page production. Content is then packaged for a digital publication and distributed to the iPad Reader app. Customers can create a library of issues available for download inside the Reader app.
Configuration and customization possibilities allow publishers to distinguish themselves and fully brand the app experience.
Noting CCI’s newspaper customer base, Woodwing CEO Hans Janssen said that “through this cooperation, newspapers can more easily add the iPad to their publishing mix. This will help to speed up the adoption of tablet devices.”
