Danish publishing systems developer CCI Europe, with offices in Kennesaw, Ga., announced the availability of the CCI suite on the Solaris 10 operating system, running on Sun Microsystems’ Sun Fire servers and integrating Sun Cluster.
“The large-scale workloads of the newspaper industry and the scalable processing power required to support it make the Solaris OS an ideal platform for developing and deploying our software solutions,” CCI Product Manager Henrik Baek Joergensen said in a statement.
Having long relied on Sun, CCI Europe the Solaris OS “a premier deployment platform” that led to implementations at The New York Times and Chicago Tribune, among other sites.
CCI cited “deeper engineering collaboration to optimize the use of Solaris 10 and Sun Cluster features in the CCI platform for enhanced stability.” Sun Cluster software “automatically detects, isolates, and recovers from any single hardware or software failure.” Solaris 10 features include “Predictive Self-Healing” and multithreading advancements to improve performance and decrease downtime.
