The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer will begin accepting paid announcements of same-sex commitments, the newspaper reported Friday. Publisher Peter Ridder told the paper that the policy change amounts to “simple justice and equal access.”
Announcements of same-sex unions recently grabbed national attention when The New York Times began running them several weeks ago. The Observer becomes the 126th newspaper to publish the notices, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
