For the last several weeks, the Chicago Sun-Times has bragged on its front page that it is “still only 50 cents,” contrasting itself with the rival Chicago Tribune, which now has a cover price of 75 cents.
But Monday in a low-key announcement, the Sun-Times said it was increasing its basic home delivery rate to $4.44 a month. The paper blamed rising production costs, and noted it had not raised its home delivery price since 2004.
The increase will not affect subscribers enrolled in its EasyPay automatic payment program, the paper said.
