Chicago Newspaper Guild members will vote Wednesday evening on a tentative three-year contract with the Chicago Sun-Times.

The pact increases pay 1.5% in its first year, and 2% in each of the last two years. The newspaper is also increasing its health insurance contribution by $5 in the first and second years, and by $10 in the final year.

This is believed to be the first time the Guild, which represents about 190 newsroom employees, reached a new contract before the old pact expires. Guild-represented employees are working under a contract that expires Sept. 30.

The union’s bargaining committee has recommended members ratify the tentative contract.
