Sun-Times Media kicked off the transformation of its Websites with Thursday’s launch of new sites for the five dailies and 11 weeklies in its West Region of the Chicago suburbs.
The launch of the sites follows the conversion of the papers, including the Naperville Sun and Herald-News in Joliet, to the Sun-Times Media Desk platform earlier this week.
“These accomplishments are a significant milestone in our company’s plan to convert all of our newsrooms to a modern, Internet-based ‘in the cloud’ system and re-launch all of our newspaper Web sites, creating an even greater experience for our readers and advertisers,” Sun-Times Media CEO Jeremy L. Halbreich and President and COO Rick Surkamer said in a memo to staffers.
The relaunch of Websites and conversions of newsrooms to the new platform will continue into early 2011. Sun-Times Media publishes the Chicago Sun-Times, seven other dailies and 51 weeklies.
