‘Chicago Sun-Times’ Teams Up with EveryBlock.com

By: E&P Staff

The Chicago Sun-Times has added a new feature to its Web site that allows people to zero in on news by neighborhood. Called Your Block, readers of the suntimes.com can view a map of the city and get corresponding new coverage.

The paper teamed up with EveryBlock.com, which allows users to find news — everything from latest building permits to crime stats — by pinpointing addresses.

Additional information provided by EveryBlock.com includes street closures, lost-and-found postings, property transfers, and Yelp.com reviews pertinent to the neighborhood.

“The Chicago Sun-Times is helping readers become the most knowledgeable neighbors on their city block,” Michael Cooke, editor in chief of the Sun-Times, said in a statement.

EveryBlock.com is an independent Web site launched in January founded by Adrian Holovaty and funded by a grant from the Knight News Challenge.
