NewspaperDirect was expected to announce three new clients today: the Chicago Tribune, Liberation of Paris, and Het Nieuwsblad of Antwerp, Belgium. The New York-based company provides same-day digital delivery of newspapers to locations around the globe, where editions are laser printed.
Offering over 160 titles such as USA Today and The Wall Street Journal, NewspaperDirect’s print locations include major hotel chains and cruise lines. A competing service is offered by PEPC Worldwide of The Hague, Netherlands.
The service is reportedly popular among business travelers. Jim Chisholm, strategy adviser for the World Association of Newspapers, said he recently witnessed a long queue of hotel guests in Moscow waiting for the chance to download and print their hometown paper using one of these services.
