Starting July 6, the cover price of the Sunday Chicago is increasing 20 cents to $1.99 in its core circulation area.

In a note to readers over the weekend, the paper said the price increase — the first in more than five years — was prompted by accelerating fuel and newsprint costs.

It said the newsstand price of its Monday through Saturday editions will remain at 75 cents, but that home delivery rates “will rise slightly in 2008, while providing an even greater discount off newsstand prices.”
