Newspaper Veteran Succeeds Tyner
Ann Marie Lipinski was named the 20th editor of the Chicago
Tribune Wednesday, succeeding Howard Tyner, who moves full
time to the position of vice president/editorial of Tribune
Publishing. Lipinksi is the first woman to hold the post.
A 1988 Pulitizer Prize winner, Lipinski is currently vice
president and executive editor of the newspaper. “Ann Marie is an
outstanding journalist and leader, uniquely prepared to edit the
Chicago Tribune for our 21st century readers,” said Scott
Smith, president and publisher.
Prior to becoming executive editor in August, Lipinski served as
managing editor for five years. She joined the Tribune in
