Doubles Traffic After Redesign

The Chicago Tribune has doubled the number of unique visitors to its Web site since launching a redesign a year ago. According to Nielsen Online, had 4.8 million uniques in June 2008 June 2008t.

“The jump in our Web traffic reflects the increased interactivity that our sites offer as a result of improvements we made last year,” Alison Scholly, vice president of Interactive, said in a statement. “Our audiences are far more engaged with our sites than ever before, and we’ll continue to develop new features that keep them coming back.”

The Chicago Tribune attributes frequent site updates, an emphasis on photos and other graphics, expanded search, comments boards and video chats for the rise in monthly uniques.
