Chuck Gysi Named Editor of ‘Macomb (Ill.) Journal’

Veteran journalist Chuck Gysi has been named editor of The Macomb (Ill.) Journal.

Gysi comes to the daily from a post as communications/program officer for the Rochester Area Foundation in Minnesota. His most recent newspaper experience was as managing editor of the Austin (Minn.) Daily Herald.

Before that Gysi, who graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, was editor and assistant to the publisher fo the West Liberty (Iowa) Index, opinion editor and features editor at the Iowa City (Iowa) Press-Citizen, and news editor at The Hawk Eye in Burlington, Iowa.

An amateur radio operator and freelance writer on communication topics, Gysi has also edited the New York-based radio hobbyists magazine Popular Communications.

Journal Publisher Pam McDowell said in a release that she is impressed by Gysi?s experience and hopes his presence will help the paper implement ?some long overdue changes.?
