The Cincinnati Enquirer scored big with newspaper sales after the hometown Reds clinched the National League Central Division title.

The Enquirer quickly sold out 5,000 “Extra” editions Tuesday night. They went on sale downtown soon after Jay Bruce’s 9th-inning home run won the game against Houston and ensured the Reds’ first playoff appearance since 1995.

The Enquirer says another 10,000 copies of the special Reds edition distributed Wednesday morning were nearly sold out by 11 a.m., as was the regular morning edition, so more were printed for afternoon sale.

The paper says it doubled its usual 25,000 Wednesday morning newspaper run.

The Enquirer is owned by Gannett Co.
