Washington, DC, USA (March 23, 2011) – The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization announced publication of the Spring 2011 edition of the JDF Marketplace. The JDF Marketplace is a directory of products that support JDF and PrintTalk, as well as related services such as integration support and consulting services. The JDF Marketplace is published in English, and is available as a free PDF download to the general public.
The current JDF Marketplace is 162 pages and includes 151 detailed product and service listings. Listings include JDF-enabled products for all phases of print production, from customer-facing systems through MIS, prepress, press and postpress. In addition to the basic listings, the JDF Marketplace includes JDF/integration support hotline information for many manufacturers, as well as a short, plain-English introduction to JDF.
“For printers looking to integrate systems and manage an automation program, this is a ‘must have’ reference,” said CIP4 Education and Marketing Officer, Tim Daisy of Prism. “It is one of our most popular downloads from the website.”
Listings in the JDF Marketplace are free to CIP4 member companies, and are submitted on a voluntary basis. The JDF Marketplace is published by CIP4 twice a year as a service to the industry. To download a copy of the JDF Marketplace, please visit http://www.cip4.org/marketplace/.
CIP4 brings together vendors, consultants, and end-users in the print communications, graphic arts industry, and associated sectors, covering a variety of equipment, software, peripherals, and processes, to foster process automation in the printing industry. Members participate in focused working groups to define the Job Definition Format (JDF), PrintTalk, and other standards relevant to process automation; to study user requirements; to test product interoperability; and to develop a range of JDF software development tools. Information on CIP4, including membership details and educational resources, is available from the organization’s website: www.cip4.org.
The Job Definition Format (JDF) is the industry specification designed to facilitate process automation and the integration of different applications and systems in and around the graphic arts industry. JDF also enables the integration of business management and job planning applications into the production workflow. JDF is based on the W3C’s Extensible Markup Language (XML), ensuring maximum interoperability between different platforms and ready interaction with Internet systems.
