Marisa Anders has been named editor and general manager of the Clairborne (Tenn.) Progress.
Anders had been serving as interim editor in addition to her regular duties as managing editor of the Middlesboro (Ky.) Daily News. “I?m thrilled to be back home,” she told the paper, “and to be able to take the Progress to the next level. I?m excited about the possibilities and opportunities here.”
A veteran of the marketing and public relations fields, Anders’ time at the Daily News was marked by the paper’s recent redesigning efforts. She also received recognition from the Kentucky Press Association for the paper’s coverage of the Claiborne County tornadoes in the spring of 2007.
“Marisa has done an excellent job at the Middlesboro Daily News and we expect her to do the same at the Claiborne Progress,” Michael Bush, President and CEO of Heartland Publications, the Progress’ parent company, said in a statement. ?Having her in the leadership role at Tazewell will allow us to accelerate improvements at the Progress and give that area an even better community newspaper.”
