Dot Coms Join White House Press Corps
The dot-com press added 13 online reporters and columnists to the ranks of the White House
press corps for President Clinton’s ‘digital divide’ tour through Silicon Valley, an Indian
community in Shiprock, N.M., and trade show in Chicago, reports The Associated Press.
As Clinton nears the end of his presidency, many reporters have jumped beats to the campaign,
leaving vacant seats on the press plane. Those seats were temporarily filled by online
journalists covering the Silicon Valley tour.
Reporters and columnists for Redherring.com, SpeakOut.com, ON24.com, and others shared the
cost of the chartered plane, as the media always does.
