A columnist has brought attention to a late cartoonist, but cartooning had nothing to do with it.

In his current column, “Budget Travel” writer Arthur Frommer of King Features Syndicate focuses on the J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Fla.

Darling (1876-1962) was a syndicated Des Moines Register political cartoonist and ardent conservationist.
