James Smith, who has served as editor of the Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, Conn., since 2005, has left the newspaper.

Smith, 61, told The Associated Press that his departure was by mutual agreement. As of Monday morning on the Connecticut Post?s Web site, the text of all of Smith?s editorials/opinion pieces could no longer be found, although a list of them remained.

A call by E&P to the office of President/Publisher Robert H. Laska had not yet been returned.

In March, the Post was honored by the New England Newspaper Association with its Newspaper of the Year award, in the circulation category of 60,001-plus.
