The executive editor of Utah’s largest newspaper will be the new editor of the Connecticut Post.
Robert H. Laska, the paper’s president and publisher, is appointing Thomas Baden of The Salt Lake Tribune to the Connecticut job. Laska says Baden’s extensive journalism background will help maintain high standards in reporting at the Connecticut Post.
Baden replaces 61-year-old James Smith of Oxford, who left the newspaper last week after spending three years as editor.
The 54-year-old Baden graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Maryland. He worked as a reporter and city editor at the Post-Standard in Syracuse, and was managing editor of the Patriot News in Harrisburg, Pa.
The Salt Lake Tribune and the Connecticut Post are owned by Denver-based MediaNews Group.
