Blaming the weak advertising market, Cox Interactive Media of Atlanta announced it will cut 16% of its staff Thursday, according to the Cox-owned Atlanta Journal-Constitution. About 70 of 450 positions nationwide will be eliminated.
Cox Interactive runs 22 Web sites, including AccessAtlanta.com, LAInsider.com, InsideNewOrleans.com, and Austin360.com.
A division of Cox Enterprises, Cox Interactive was created in 1997. A spokeswoman told the Journal-Constitution that profitability isn’t expected until 2004.
