Dakota Daily Sold To Wisconsin Publishers

After owning the South Dakota daily for 94 of its 115 years, the Lowrie family is selling the 13,558 evening Watertown Public Opinion to Kenosha, Wisc.-based United Communications Corp., owner of the flagship Kenosha News and several other papers and broadcast properties in Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York.

No terms were released in the sale, which was announced Monday. Santa Fe, N.M.-based Dirks, Van Essen & Murray represented the Public Opinion in the transaction.
