Media facility design firm Dario Designs, Marlborough, Mass., has signed six new contracts in 2007.

The projects vary from full architecture and engineering services for Gannett Co. at The Times, Shreveport, La., to a masterplan for McClatchy Newspapers at The Sun News, Myrtle Beach, SC.

Other projects are for Morris Communications, Advance Publications, and New York Times Co. properties.

Also, Media General’s Opelika-Auburn (Ala.) News recently moved into its new 39,000-square-foot office and production facility, where it runs a Manugraph Dauphin Graphic Machines Advantage press, Gammerler STC-700 High Infeed compensating stacker, and K&M-remanufactured NP1472 inserter and belt conveyor.

“We’ve already realized significant efficiencies that we never could have achieved in our old facility,” Opelika-Auburn News Publisher Jim Rainey said in a statement.

“When he came on board, we didn’t realize he had this other, hidden talent,” Dario Designs Marketing Director Cindy DiMatteo told E&P.
