(AP) A man who wrote to “Dear Abby” for advice on how to handle sexual fantasies about underage girls pleaded innocent Monday to possessing child pornography.
Paul Weiser, 28, was arrested March 11 after Jeanne Phillips, who writes the “Dear Abby” column, contacted police about a letter in which Weiser describes fantasizing about sex with his girlfriend’s two young daughters and other girls.
Phillips has said she agonized over her decision because the column’s credibility is based on the anonymity of letter writers, but felt the girls would only be safe if authorities were involved.
Police said they recovered 40 pornographic photographs of children from Weiser’s computer. On Monday, he pleaded innocent to three counts of possession of child pornography.
Randy Kaiser, Weiser’s attorney, said it was too early to discuss his defense.
According to a criminal complaint, Weiser said he has sought help from four doctors, who told him he did not have a problem.
