Dell Inc. CEO Michael Dell unveiled his company’s tablet with a seven-inch screen during this week’s Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco.
The tablet will join the 5-inch Streak introduced in August and appeared, according to Reuters, to run on Google’s Android mobile operating system. Dell offered no technical details.
Meanwhile, the Streak, now available only through Dell’s Website, will be sold at Best Buy stores in October.
With the touchscreen Streak already helping fill the space between smartphones and e-readers, the latest Dell device would appear to be another in the pocket-size range that combines more presentation possibilities than phone screens with more portable convenience than larger tablets — while using he latter’s functionality and display technology within dimensions ordinarily associated with e-readers employing electronic-ink based displays.
