Ed Nichols has been named publisher of the Delta Democrat Times in Greenville – his second top job at a Mississippi newspaper.
Nichols was named in February as publisher of the Clarksdale Press Register, which is also owned by Emmerich Newspapers.
“I’m very excited to accept the additional assignment of the Delta Democrat Times to my responsibilities in the Delta.
“Being able to run both newspapers will enable me to produce a better, clearer, more concise product without having a middle man in the process,” Nichols said.
Nichols replaces John Clark at the helm of the Delta Democrat Times.
“Although we are sad to see John Clark leave, we are delighted to have a veteran newspaperman as his replacement,” said Wyatt Emmerich, president of Emmerich Newspapers.
“Ed ran the DDT from 1997 to 2000, during which its profits and revenues rose to new heights. He is tough but fair and loves Greenville. He still has many friends here.”
Nichols came to Clarksdale from Sulphur, La., where he was publisher of the Southwest Daily News.
