Dennis Succeeds Alexieff as ‘Daily News’ M.E. in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Associated Press has reported that Andy Dennis, assistant managing editor at The Daily News, Bowling Green, Ky., was promoted to managing editor, succeeding Mike Alexieff, who resigned last week following his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol on federal property (E&P Online, June 15).

Publisher Pipes Gaines was quoted saying Dennis “will provide the kind of leadership that will produce the type of quality product our readers expect.”

Dennis, 47, joined the Daily News in 1989, upon graduating from Western Kentucky University, working first as a sports and news reporter, then news editor, copy editor and copy desk chief. He was named assistant managing editor 12 years ago.

Dennis named photo editor Joe Imel to replace him as assistant managing editor. Imel retains is photo editing position.
