A “Dennis the Menace” statue was stolen from a park in Monterey, Calif., according to a San Jose Mercury News story linked by ComicsReporter.com.

City officials have offered a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who took the 120-pound statue, which was commissioned in 1988.

The late Hank Ketcham, who created “Dennis the Menace,” once lived in Monterey. His comic, now done by other cartoonists, continues to be syndicated by King Features.
