John Temple, 48, president and editor of the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, has been named publisher, a title last held by Larry D. Strutton.
Temple will retain his duties as president and editor, and continue to serve as the News? top liaison with the Denver Newspaper Agency, the business arm of the jointly operated News and Denver Post.
Temple, who joined the News in 1992, became managing editor in 1995; vice president and editor in 1998; and president in January, when the joint-operating agreement became effective. Before joining the News, Temple was managing editor of The Albuquerque (N.M.) Tribune.
The News is owned by the E.W. Scripps Co. of Cincinnati.
