David L. Hunke, president and publisher of the Detroit Free Press, has also been named CEO of the Detroit Newspaper Partnership.

Hunke, 53, is a former president and publisher of the Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle. He has served as president and publisher of the Free Press since 2005.

The Detroit Newspaper Partnership handles the business operations of the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press. The two papers maintain separate newsrooms but share advertising, printing, and circulation staffs.

Hunke succeeds Mark Mikolajczyk, who this week was named president and publisher of Florida Today in Melbourne.
