The Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News launched a ?click-to-call? option for online readers who want to contact advertisers directly from banner ads.
Software Innovations Inc., of Ann Arbor, Mich., is providing the platform to the owner of both papers, the Detroit Newspaper Partnership (DNP).
The concept allows readers to speak directly with a call center, marketing, or sales rep once clicking on a banner ad. The advertisers pay for the calls at negotiated rates lower than most local calls, said the release.
?This is a truly innovative way to connect buyers and sellers and it aligns well with our strategies to be early adopters of new technology and to find ways to engage audiences and deliver results for advertisers,? Dave Hunke, president and CEO of the DNP, in a statement.
