Jones Will Increase New Media Focus

Alex S. Jones, host of the PBS television series ‘Media Matters’ and a former Pulitzer
Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times, has been named director of the Joan
Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University, the
Times reports today.

Jones replaces former NBC and CBS correspondent Marvin Kalb, who left the post last year.
Jones, 53, said he plans to boost the center’s focus on the Internet and its effect on
politics and public policy. He currently serves as a journalism professor at Duke
University and previously hosted the NPR radio program, ‘On The Media.’
