The creator of “Doonesbury,” in an interview with the “New Zealand Listener,” said he thinks Barack Obama will win the White House.
“American cartoonist Garry Trudeau has been lampooning politicians for nearly 40 years,” wrote David Larsen. “But he hasn’t yet decided how to depict Barack Obama — who he reckons will be the next President — in his daily syndicated strip.”
Larsen quoted Trudeau as saying of Obama: “Go to any of his events — it?ll take your breath away. His crowds are better than U2’s. Even conservative commentators are under his spell, which has never happened before in my lifetime.”
The entire “Listener” piece — which also discusses the history of “Doonesbury”; Trudeau’s depictions of B.D., Iraqis, and George W. Bush; and more — can be seen here.
“Doonesbury” runs in about 1,400 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
