Dow Jones Newswires announced Tuesday that it has appointed Michael C. Bergmeijer and Neal S. Lipschutz to vice president positions.
Bergmeijer, 49, will serve as vice president and managing director, international, while Lipschutz, 48, becomes vice president and managing editor of the newswire.
Bergmeijer currently serves as vice president, international sales and marketing, and Lipschutz is currently senior editor, Americas. Both Bergmeijer and Lipschutz will report to Paul J. Ingrassia, president, Dow Jones Newswires. These changes will take effect Oct. 3.
In his new role, Bergmeijer will be responsible for both business and news operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as Asia-Pacific. His expanded role will allow him to direct the growth of Newswires’ overall business, including its roster of local-language wires (which now number nine) and its opportunities to expand relationships with key partners.
Lipschutz will directly supervise the news staffs in the Americas. He also will be the chief arbiter of, and spokesman for, news policies, coverage, and standards for Newswires on a global basis. He will work closely with Bergmeijer in his new role.
