Knight Ridder of San Jose, Calif., named Marti Buscaglia, vice president of marketing and communications for The Sun of Baltimore, as publisher of the Duluth (Minn.) News Tribune on Wednesday.
Knight Ridder Chairman and CEO Tony Ridder called Buscaglia, 48, “a smart, fair-minded, and capable leader, well grounded in the newspaper business.”
Buscaglia has worked for The Sun, a Tribune Co. paper, since April 2000. Previously, she worked for a Minneapolis-based magazine and Web site, and for Knight Ridder’s Saint Paul Pioneer Press and Press-Telegram of Long Beach, Calif. She was also vice president for market development at Gannett Suburban Newspapers in Westchester, N.Y., and director of market development for the El Paso (Texas) Times.
Buscaglia replaces Mary Jacobus, recently named publisher of The News-Sentinel of Fort Wayne, Ind.
