Editor & Publisher leads the field with five finalists for the 2007 Jesse H. Neal Awards, the top prizes for business journalism. E&P also gained five finalists last year, and won two awards.
Winners will be announced at the annual gala luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on March 22. The awards are sponsored by American Business Media.
E&P has won nine Neal Awards, sometimes called the ?Pultizers? for the trade press, in the past four years, more than any magazine except one.
This year it gained finalist slots for Editorials/Opinion (for the fifth year in a row), News (the fourth consecutive year for our reporting on Iraq coverage), Best Department, and two of the three finalists for Best Series (for articles by Joe Strupp on the merged/multimedia newsroom and by Jennifer Saba and Mark Fitzgerald on the Knight Ridder/McClatchy deal and its aftermath).
Other magazines earning Neal finalists nods this year include E&P?s siblings at The Nielsen Company — Brandweek, Mediaweek and Photo District News.
The full name of the prize is Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards.
