Ecuador’s Oldest Paper Installs KBA Colora

Ecuador’s oldest newspaper, El Tel?grafo, in Guayaquil, will begin printing on a KBA Colora by year’s end, supplying better color and overall print quality and more immediacy.

To be used in production of other publications as well, the Colora will have an 18.5-inch cutoff, maximum web width of 49.5 inches and maximum rated output of 37,500 32-page or 75,000 16-page broadsheet titles, all in full color.

The doublewide Colora will be configured with two KBA Pastomat C reelstands with KBA Patras M reel handling, two four-high towers for 4/4 printing, two turner decks, a superstructure with two formers and a KF 5 jaw folder with a 2:5:5 cylinder ratio.

Automation will include ink pumping, washing, two consoles with EAE’s AVE-System Print software) and color and cutoff register controls.
